A one-off cash grant of $200,000 GYD (just over $1930 BDS) will be distributed to every household in Guyana.
The announcement was made by President Dr. Irfaan Ali during a special sitting of Parliament – his second address to Parliament since taking office.
The cash grant forms part of a raft of measures the President says is part of a blueprint to take Guyana forward and safeguard the quality of life.
President Ali further announced all public sector workers will earn no less than $100,000 GYD monthly by the end of 2025.
Food security is also on the agenda of Guyana’s government, and work is continuing on creating a digital economy for the country.
