Educational transformation to help children reach potential

Minister of Educational Transformation Senator Chad Blackman, says the Government is pursuing education transformation to ensure children reach their full potential, regardless of the challenges they may face.

He was speaking at the WeeCare Montessori outreach viewing of the documentary “Inside Montessori” at the Wee Pals Montesso in Bartlett’s, Christ Church.

The Minister says The Government is trying to transform the educational structure so that every child can learn in his or her own way.

He notes, for example, that while autism is a challenge, if The Government can get the foundational basics right, that will help children to succeed, in spite of the condition.

Minister Blackman also says his Ministry is interested in partnering with organizations like the Montessori to help with this transformation.

Senator Blackman also said the transformation will be somewhat uncomfortable as there will be a deconstruction of the current model of education.

He pointed out the current system depends a lot on exams and while they are necessary, there are other ways to achieve the same goal with different ways of learning.
