Fisherfolk will soon have a fuel dock in the Shallow Draught Marina. This from Minister of Tourism and International Transport Ian Gooding-Edghill. He says with the fuel dock, fisherfolk will not have to travel north to the Port St. Charles area.

The seventh medical team from China has arrived on the island to assist at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. The medical team comprises 13 persons. They were welcomed by a Barbados delegation led by the Minister of State in the Ministry of Health and Wellness, Davidson Ishmael, and China’s Ambassador to Barbados, Yan Xiusheng. A National Survey on Literacy is to be conducted by the University of the West Indies at Cave Hill. It will be undertaken during the months of October and November. The purpose of the survey is to assess literacy skills, including reading, writing, listening, and speaking, and to gather opinions on attitudes towards literacy and how literacy impacts personal, workplace, and professional development. The survey will be conducted across all parishes, and households will be randomly selected to participate. Participation is voluntary, and all information collected will remain confidential. The input of the public will contribute to an important national effort, aimed at improving literacy education for all Barbadians.
