76 medals to date for Barbados at Huntsman Games

Barbados’ senior athletes so far have 33 gold medals in their overall count of 76 at the Huntsman Games in Utah, United States. 73 of those medals are in track and field, with Ainsley Lovell in the Women’s 70-74 age group accounting for nine gold medals. Angela Jackson set a new World Seniors record in the Women’s 60-64 discus. The other three team medals for Barbados have all come in cycling.

DEM working to engage youth

The Department of Emergency Management is implementing several programmes to engage young people in discussions surrounding disaster preparedness planning and management. Emergency management officials say educating youth on risks and preparedness techniques fosters resilient communities and achieves a holistic approach to disaster preparedness. No widespread chicken shortage

The closure of two outlets of a well known restaurant due to a chicken shortage has sparked concern that the problem may be widespread. However officials are saying that is not the case. In a notice posted on its Facebook page Chicken Barn said its Bay Street and Worthing restaurants would be closed today due to a chicken shortage, but its other locations would be open. Some interpreted the message to mean that chicken is scarce in Barbados. However Chief Executive Officer of the Barbados Agricultural Society James Paul says the poultry problem may be restricted to that business.
