130 million dollars has been approved by government for the Queen Elizabeth Hospital to upgrade its medical equipment.
This comes from Minister of State in the Ministry of Health and Wellness Davidson Ishmael.
He was speaking at the Cancer Support Services’ Annual Conference.
Minister Ishmael stated that this investment in equipment will include a machine he believes to be a game changer in the treatment of cancer in Barbados.
Mr. Ishmael also stated that according to the most recent survey done by the Barbados National Registry, there were a thousand new cases of people diagnosed with cancer in one year.
However, while the number of confirmed cases is alarming, the report also shows the survival rate has also risen, which is positive for the country.
