Barbados’ Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley has received one of Suriname’s highest national awards.
She was bestowed the Grand Cordon in the Order of the Palm on her visit to Paramaribo.
She was recognised for her extraordinary contributions to advancing Suriname-Barbados relations, as well as her leadership within CARICOM.
President Chandrikapersad Santokhi says the Barbadian leader has demonstrated visionary leadership, unwavering dedication and a steadfast commitment to the principles that unite the Caribbean community.
He says the relationship between Suriname and Barbados has flourished under her leadership.
