Choppy sea conditions expected along the west coast

The Barbados Meteorological Services is advising the public of the potential for the deterioration of marine conditions on the west coast of Barbados, due to northerly sea swells from Sunday, December 29, to Thursday, January 2, 2025.

There are no watches or warnings in effect for Barbados for this marine event.

The BMS says the formation of a mid-latitude cyclone in the Central Atlantic is predicted to generate northerly sea swells across the region.

Swells of 1.5 to 2.5 metres are expected to impact the coastal waters of Barbados during this event.

Choppy sea conditions mainly along the western coastlines of Barbados are expected from as early as the night of Sunday through to Thursday morning.

These conditions are predicted to peak from Monday through Tuesday, during the aforementioned period.

Marine users are encouraged to follow the advice and warnings provided by the NCC and its lifeguards.

The public is also being urged to monitor official sources for further updates over the coming days.

This information statement will be updated on December, Sunday 29, 2024.
