UK contributing millions to help strengthen regional security

The United Kingdom is lending a helping hand by injecting millions of dollars into strengthening regional security.

UK Foreign Secretary, David Lammy says the new Labour government will be contributing £27 million to the region, to build up law enforcement intelligence gathering capabilities in the northern and eastern Caribbean.

He says this financial assistance will give law enforcement officials the tools to take on criminals and support public campaigns to discourage individuals from turning to violence.

Mr. Lammy adds the UK will also be giving £5 million specifically to the One Caribbean Fund, to strengthen institutions like CARICOM and the Regional Security System.
