Despite increased awareness and activism against gender-based violence, a university academic says numbers are still rising.
Senior Lecturer and Head of the Institute for Gender Development Studies of the Nita Barrow Unit at UWI Cave Hill Dr. Halimah Deshong described this as troubling.
With the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-based Violence in full swing, she says there is need for more evidence-informed action to address the issue.
Dr. Deshong was a guest on CBC TV8’s Mornin’ Barbados.
