CDEMA signals support for trigger points within fund

The Barbados-based Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency, CDEMA has signalled its support for trigger points within the Loss and Damage Fund.

The fund is a financing mechanism which helps developing countries respond to the economic and non-economic losses and damages caused by climate change.

Executive Director Elizabeth Riley wants to see movements on the matter in this regard at the UN Climate Change Conference or COP29 in Azerbaijan.

She says financing will always be a challenge for small states.

Ms. Riley was among the panel for a side event hosted by the Caribbean Development Bank titled: ‘Strengthening Hydro Meteorological and Early Warning Systems in the Caribbean’.
