Hackers breach BRA’s vehicle registration portal

Hackers have breached the Barbados Revenue Authority’s Vehicle Registration Online Portal, resulting in the personal information of some Barbadians being placed online for sale. Manager of Communications & PR, Carolyn Williams-Gayle has confirmed that the BRA is looking to the situation. However, online sources have provided more details, claiming that hackers have 230 gigabytes of uncompressed data that includes full names, email addresses, phones numbers, passport and National Identification numbers, as well as drivers’ licenses and vehicle registrations. The BRA has taken its Vehicle Registration Portal offline, as it investigates the matter. It says the Data Commissioner has been informed of the incident and will continue to be updated.
