Barbados marks CARICOM-Cuba Day against Terrorism

The bombing of the Cubana Airline flight although horrific is being described as a catalyst in creating the platform for real solidarity across the region. This from His Excellency David Comissiong, Ambassador of Barbados to CARICOM. And by this Ambassador Comissiong says it has been a fundamental plank of the region’s foreign policy being a zone of peace. He made the remark during a commemoration ceremony for the 48th anniversary of the Bombing of Cuban Airlines Flight 455 and the second CARICOM-Cuba Day against Terrorism at Paynes Bay in St. James.

Rector of St. Peter Parish Church, Canon Peter Haynes is reminding Barbadians God is at work even in the midst of tragedy. The Anglican Priest says despite the challenges and chaos that come with a tragedy God continues to provide for his people. He issued the reminder while speaking to his congregation about the story of Job.

Barbadians encouraged to join Toastmasters

Barbadians who want to develop communication and leadership skills are being encouraged to join one of the Toastmasters Clubs on the island. Shirleen Haynes of the Toastmasters Association says members of the clubs are assigned roles that help to develop their communication and leadership skills. Ms. Haynes was speaking at Calvary Moravian Church where Toastmasters joined the congregation in worship. Toastmasters International will be celebrating its 100th anniversary on October 22. There are approximately 280 thousand members in 149 clubs worldwide. Barbados has 15 .
