UK to be a stronger international partner

Fresh off the delivery of the budget in the UK, Barbados has been told an economically stable United Kingdom will make it a stronger and more credible international partner. Deputy British High Commissioner to Barbados, Charley Williams in dissecting the presentation by Chancellor, Rachel Reeves says measures introduced are aimed at putting the UK economy back on a sustainable footing and driving investment to push growth. She says Britain will remain one of the largest providers of overseas development assistance. Ms. Williams was a guest on CBC TV8’s Mornin’ Barbados. Despite the announcement of tax rises and a hike in air passengers for a short-haul flights and private jet users, Ms. Williams doesn’t expect the measures will impact travel.

Bajans urged to be wary of get-rich -quick schemes

Central Bank Governor, Dr. Kevin Greenidge is urging Barbadians to do their due diligence before investing their money in get-rich-quick schemes. His advice comes as one such scheme is claiming to have been endorsed by Dr. Greenidge. Speaking during the Central Bank’s latest Economic Review, he told members of the media the matter is being investigated. Dr. Greenidge has highlighted three red flags he says are usually associated with these illegitimate schemes.
