Significant savings from IMF charges review

The recent announcement by IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva on the review of charges and the surcharge policy will result in significant savings for the Barbados Government. The IMF surcharge fees were heavily criticised as they imposed additional charges on top of regular interest payments. Barbados’ Central Bank Governor Dr. Kevin Greenidge shares what the reduction of about 37% will mean.

Banfield into round 3 at World Masters Surfing

Barbadian Barry Banfield is through to the 3rd round of the repercharge at the ISA World Masters Surfing championship in El Salvador. Banfield finished 2nd today in Heat two of the Masters Men Over 40 repercharge with a 6.50 and 5.00, for a best wave total of 11.50. The winner of the heat was Shane Conwell of Australia, who had a total of 12.53.

New sports facility for Combermere

A multi-million dollar multi-sports facility is in the pipeline for the Combermere School. A gift from the school’s Old Scholars, the project was launched during the celebration of Combermere Week. CBC’s Ann-Marie Burke reports.
