Barbados needs to get accreditation process completed

Barbados needs to move with urgency to get its accreditation process completed. That’s according to Minister of State in the Ministry of Education, Technological and Vocational Training Sandra Husbands who says getting the accreditation process in order is important for the country to fast-track its movement to the global economic space. She was addressing the opening of the Accreditation Workshop. Meanwhile, Ms. Husbands is advising education stakeholders there is much work to be done to get the accreditation process completed.

New contracts for 30 Windies players

Six West Indies men’s players and three women’s players have received multi year retainer contracts from Cricket West Indies for the remainder of 2024 until 2026. In media release today CWI named Shai Hope, Alzarri Joseph, Shamar Joseph, Brandon King, Gudakesh Motie and Jayden Selaes as the men’s players offered multi-year deals. Meanwhile, Hayley Matthews, Shemaine Campbelle and Stefanine Taylor are the women’s players that have secured a contract for the two year period. The announcement comes on the heels of a new four-year memorandum of understanding which was signed in January between CWI and the West Indies Players Association. In total 15 senior men’s and women’s players have been contracted based on their performances during the 2023-2024 evaluation period. Of note Barbadian Pacer Kemar Roach is in discussions regarding a new dual playing and mentorship/coaching role as he begins to plan and consider the next stage of his cricket career. On the women’s side Ashmini Munisar has been awarded an international contract for the first-time, following her improved performances, including being the leading wicket taker in the CG United Super50 tournament. The contract period runs from October 2024 to September 30 2025 for the players on a one-year contract while for the multi-year awarded players, their contracts are from October 1 2024 to September 30 2026.
