Call for MNCs to embrace sustainable funding

Barbados’ Prime Minister, Mia Amor Mottley wants multi-national corporations (MNC) along with renewable energy companies to embrace sustainable funding. She put forward the proposal as she addressed the annual meeting of the Clinton Global Initiative titled ‘Innovating in a Time of Crisis’.

T&T: Two killed outside a pre-school

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, CMC – Two brothers were shot and killed outside a childcare learning centre in Morvant, east of here on Monday. Police said that gunmen had been awaiting outside the Roxann’s Learning and Childcare Centre, shooting indiscriminately, resulting in the death of Gerald Caliste at the scene and his brother  Kemo Caliste, who later died at hospital. Police said that a four-year-old boy, Dimitri Berkley, said to be the child of a female police officer, was also injured as well as Adina Jackson, 48, and Joseph Coulen. Police said that Gerald Caliste  was the target of the shooting and that the attack has been connected to the ongoing gang war across Port of Spain.

Hilda Skeene Primary School closes early

The Hilda Skeene Primary School was closed early after a male parent entered the compound unannounced and behaved in a way which left teachers and students feeling threatened. The school’s Principal locked the gate and police were subsequently called to the Ruby, St. Philip compound. The incident is presently being investigated by the Ministry of Education and police. The public is being reminded not to enter school compounds unannounced. Appointments must be made, and once permission is granted, identification must be presented to enter the school.
