Another invasive species spotted in Barbados

Yet another invasive species has been spotted in Barbados. It’s called a hammerhead worm. The pest eats mainly snails and slugs but Director of Biosecurity Studies at the UWI Dr. Kirk Douglas tells us it can cause problems for humans if not properly handled. Our Wendy Burke has more. Barbados Pride suffers heavy defeat against Guyana Harpy Eagles

An excellent bowling performance on day three by Guyana Harpy Eagles led to an easy 10 wicket win over Barbados Pride in their first round CWI 4-day championship match at Providence in Guyana today. Resuming on 315 for three, the Harpy Eagles were eventually dismissed for 382 in their first innings, a lead of 36 runs. Kevlon Anderson top scored with 101, while Captain Kemol Savory fell one run short of a century on 99. Pacer Matthew Forde finished with five for 69. The Pride in their 2nd innings struggled and were bowled out for just 112 in 41.4 overs. Captain Raymon Reifer top scored with 37, while spinner Richie Looknauth snapped up 5-23 to end with match figures of 9-92. Chasing just 77 runs for victory the defending champions finished on 78-0 in 28 overs.
