Friday to be observed as Sneaker Day

Friday will be observed as ‘Sneaker Day’ a day the NCD Commission is using to raise awareness about the importance of physical activity among workers. Barbadians are being encouraged to step into wellness by wearing their sneakers to work on the day. They can post selfies or videos with #bbsneakerday2024 for the opportunity to win prizes. Chair of the NCD Commission, Sulieman Bulbulia reminded the public of the importance of physical activity, stating society has become less active. Health and Wellness Advocate, Celia Collymore further revealed the NCD Commission will be working with the Barbados Chamber of Commerce and Industry for the launch of its ‘Get Moving Initiative’.

Suki two points behind in World Qualifier

Former undisputed world draughts champion, Ronald ‘Suki’ King, is in a three-way tie for the top spot after four rounds of the Three-Move Restriction World Championship Qualifier being played in Germany. International Grand Master King is one of three players on 12 points along with Melikaya Nonyukela of South Africa, and Matteo Bernini of Italy. Other Barbadian draughts players in pursuit of earning the right to challenge champion Sergio Scarpetta of Italy for the world title next year, include Kent Layne who is tied with two other players on seven points in 16th position; and Colin Price who was 17th but slipped to 21st overall after yesterday’s action on five points.
