Increasing concern about impact of US port strike

There’s growing concern about the threatened strike at US sea ports by the International Longshoremen’s Association and the severe effects it could have on Barbadian businesses and consumers. Two more private sector associations have added their voices to the warning already issued by the Barbados Chamber of Commerce and Industry. One of them is the Transportation Intermediaries of Barbados, whose President Norman Rice has detailed what would happen if the industrial action takes place. He also said even before this threat loomed they had advised customers to implement measures that, if adopted, would lessen the impact of the strike. 14-year-old makes tennis history

Thomas O’Niell, at just 14 years old, made history when he became the youngest Barbados National Men’s Open Singles Tennis champion. Playing at the Tennis Centre in Wildey he defeated Neil King in straight sets 6-love, 6-3. Here’s a look at the match with our Ann-Marie Burke.

Deadly Israeli airstrikes in Yemen

At least five people, including a child, a port worker and three engineers, have been killed, and 45 others wounded following Israeli airstrikes on Al-Hali power station in Hodeidah. This is according to the Yemeni ministry of health. Rescue teams are searching for missing persons under the rubble. The Israeli military confirmed on Sunday that it had targeted positions in Yemen, including power plants and a seaport in Ras Issa and Hodeidah which they claimed were being used by the Houthis.
