Lions & Heat one win away from BABA Division 1 final series

Number one seeds Kolij Lions and number 2 seeds CAM Smart Assurance Heat have taken game one of the BABA First Division Best-of-Three semifinal series. Playing recently at the BCC Gym, the Heat defeated Police Sports Club 67-43. Meanwhile, Kolij out-worked VJ Carrington Building and Maintenance Challengers 66-55. Our Damien Best takes a look at that game. Game two in both semis will be on Sunday at 5:30 p.m., again at BCC.

Barbados wins six medals in ISKF World Shoto Cup

Barbados won six medals at the recent 4th International Shotokan Karate Federation World Shoto Cup, which took place at the UEL Sports Dock University Way, Beckton London. Barbados sent 11 athletes to this competition which attracted some 350 karatekas from 18 countries. Leading the medal parade for team Barbados was Terrique Jordan, who won gold in the Teenage kata. The other medals were all bronze: Maria Warren in the Super Seniors Kata, Trinity Knight in the Teenage Kumite, Shona Griffith in the Seniors Kata, Levi Kelly in the 7-12 age group Kumite, Jayden Jobe in the 7-12 Kumite, while the Team Kata of Jobe, Kelly and Enowshua Delpeache won the final bronze.
